Mishcon de Reya advises Gymbox on lease of Flagship gym at Westfield London
Mishcon de Reya has advised new client Gymbox on the lease of their 19,650 sq ft state of the art flagship gym on the top floor of The Village, the luxury shopping section of Westfield London.
The new gym, which will open in 2011, will offer an Olympic size boxing ring, 70 cardio machines, an indoor sprint track, the city’s largest free weights area, cutting edge nightclub interiors and live DJs.
Gymbox gyms are individually designed by legendary Hacienda nightclub designer Ben Kelly and offer unique classes including ‘Stiletto Workout’, ‘White Collar Boxing’, ‘Pole Dancing’ and ‘Kangoo’, a workout wearing spring loaded boots.
The Mishcon de Reya team was led by real estate partner Nick Minkoff, who joined the firm – alongside partner Stephen Hughes and head of planning Daniel Farrand – from SJ Berwin earlier this year. Corporate partner Luke Morris advised on the financing arrangements.
Nick Minkoff said: "Gymbox is a significant new client for Mishcon de Reya. In addition to the lease of the flagship gym at Westfield London, we have also been instructed on the roll out of a number of other new gyms. We look forward to developing this relationship over the next few months."
Westfield London currently comprises around 1.6 million sq ft of leisure and retail space. It counts Debenhams, House of Fraser, Next, M&S and Vue Cinema among its 345 tenants.
