HEMYCA wins at Fashion Press Week Final
Fashion Press Week in partnership with Mishcon de Reya and Fashion Business Club is delighted to announce HEMYCA as the winner of this season’s competition to find the brightest and most directional fashion brand in the UK. For the second year running, leading law firm Mishcon de Reya sponsored a gallery at Fashion Press Week to support emerging talent and ethical designers through Fashion Discovered and Fashion Fair. Following a nationwide search to find brands to showcase their AW 11 collections, seven incredible designers were awarded a space at the prestigious press event that took place at One Marylebone last week. Each designer showing in the Mishcon space was given the opportunity to pitch to a panel of judges to win a year’s mentoring from a host of fashion, media and business experts as well as a year’s subscription to DIARY Directory and WGSN. The panel of judges included:
Lauretta Roberts, Creative Director, WGSN Boutique– providing editorial direction and assistance editing collections for media
Alison Whelan, Founder of Fashion Business Club – providing a gateway to the most elite fashion business network
Sara Berman, Fashion Designer – providing expert industry advice on running a fashion label
Suzy Socker, Managing Director, Fearnhurst PR – providing strategic PR counsel on maximising your editorial presence
Helen Croft, Legal Director, Mishcon de Reya – providing legal guidance on running a business
Helen Croft, Legal Director at Mishcon de Reya says, “We created this competition to reward the amazing talent we have in this country. We wanted to reach out to ethical and new brands to give them the opportunity to show their exceptional work to the UK fashion press and industry as a whole. The panel and I were overwhelmed by the amount of entries we had and to narrow it down to seven finalists was no easy task. However, HEMYCA stood out from the others with their can-do attitude, willingness to learn and general business acumen. We are all looking forward to mentoring HEMYCA over the next 12 months and watching their business grow from strength to strength.”
