Further Real Estate Boost for Mishcon de Reya

Following the appointments of SJ Berwin’s Nick Minkoff and Stephen Hughes as partners in the firm’s Real Estate Department earlier this year, Mishcon de Reya is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Head of Planning & Environment, Daniel Farrand who joined on 22 February also from SJ Berwin.

Daniel will be followed on 12 April by associate Jason Tann and assistant Loiuse Tainton who also leave SJ Berwin’s Real Estate Team to join the firm.

Daniel is a specialist in planning law and related areas. At SJ Berwin he handled complex and high profile developments and property deals, working with master developers and major property owners as well as acting for a range of investors and retail occupiers. Typically this kind of work covers planning agreements, applications and appeals (including environmental impact assessments), inquiry work, judicial review and enforcement. Daniel also advises on compulsory purchase, highways, environment and related public law.

Prior to his time at SJ Berwin, Daniel began his career in the public sector - as a trainee at Warwickshire County Council and then as principal solicitor for East Cambridgeshire District Council.

Mishcon de Reya’s Planning and Environment Group advises developers, investors, occupiers and public sector bodies. Its focus is both private and public sector, covering office, retail, leisure, residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes.

Recent activity has focused on mixed use urban regeneration schemes, many with a local authority as a partner.

Nick Doffman, Head of Real Estate at Mishcon de Reya said

"We are thrilled to welcome a further three members to the rapidly expanding and busy Real Estate team. Daniel has joined us to help to develop and grow our Planning practice and which is a clear focus for the department throughout 2010. We are eager to see the expected impact of his joining on our ambitious development plans."
