ACTAPS Founder Frydenson joins Mishcon de Reya

Release Date: 11 April 2007
Mishcon de Reya is very pleased to welcome highly acclaimed private client litigation specialist Henry Frydenson to its rapidly growing contentious trust and probate practice. He joined Mishcon de Reya as a Consultant on 11 April 2007. He was previously with Baker & McKenzie and Berwin Leighton Paisner.

Henry Frydenson specialises in contentious aspects of probate, trusts, estate planning, private client litigation, Inheritance Act claims, charities, and Court of Protection applications. He is a solicitor advocate and CEDR accredited mediator, and Chairman and founder of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS), and was instrumental in launching the associate membership course for lawyers interested in probate and trust law in conjunction with the College of Law.

His numerous career highlights include acting on the reported case of Re Ratcliffe (concerning whether non-charitable beneficiaries under a Will should receive their bequests subject to inheritance tax and the grossing up aspects of that matter). He is a member of the Charity Law Association, the Trust Law Committee, the Public Trust Office Consultative Forum, the Official Solicitor and Public Trustee User Group, the Medico Legal Society, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Solicitors Association of Higher Court Advocates.

The Contentious Trust & Probate Group is one of the fastest growing practice areas at Mishcon de Reya. In the past year client demand has resulted in the recruitment of two additional assistant solicitors as well as the recent election of assistant Mark Keenan to the Firm's partnership. In 2006 the Group successfully represented the defendants in Franks v Sinclair [2006] EWHC 3365 (Ch) who were successful in opposing a Will because its maker did not understand its contents.

Mishcon de Reya's Contentious Trust & Probate Group Head Tony Morton-Hooper said:

"With Henry's arrival we intend to build upon our recent successes and grow to become a leading firm in this area. Henry's vast experience and expertise will be a considerable boost."

Mishcon's Managing Partner Kevin Gold added:

"Anyone who knows this field of practice knows of Henry's stellar reputation. We are thrilled he has chosen to join us."

Commenting on his move to Mishcon de Reya, Henry Frydenson said:

"I am delighted to be joining Mishcon de Reya. The Firm's outstanding reputation for litigation and private client work make this a natural fit and I am looking forward to contributing to its exciting plans for the coming years."
