The effect and extent of The Bribery Act 2010

The Bribery Act 2010 is the most comprehensive anti-bribery legislation ever introduced in the UK and is due to come into force in April 2011. The penalties for falling foul of the Bribery Act include lengthy prison sentences and unlimited fines.

Incorporating a concise legal overview and practical case studies, we will explore the key areas employers will need to address and the key provisions of the Bribery Act, including:

  • what constitutes a bribe

  • the extent to which corporate hospitality is covered by the Bribery Act

  • who can be liable

  • the territorial scope of the Bribery Act

  • the damage that a breach of the Bribery Act can do to your business and

  • the steps a business can take to protect themselves against liability, including implementing policies, changing contracts and training staff.

If you have any particular concerns or queries about the Bribery Act 2010, please let us know in advance and we will try to address them during the seminar.
