Market

City job vacancies in December were up by 18% to more than 2,600, compared to the same period in 2009, according to Astbury Marsden.

The monthly survey by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG has found that permanent and temporary recruitment rose in December, though at a slightly weaker rate than the three-month highs reported in November, driven by hiring in the private sector.

Selby Jennings, the financial services recruitment company, has launched a dedicated executive search business called Selby Jennings search after internal research found that recruitment in the sector could be up in 2011 by over 300% compared to 2008.
