Daughter overturns Father's Will on a technicality
Mrs Ahluwalia, daughter of Mr Singh, was originally left only £20,000 from his £870,000 estate under his will. However, she managed to overturn his will on the grounds that the legal will-signing formalities had not been correctly followed. As a result, her father was deemed to die intestate and his estate will now be distributed equally amongst his six children, giving Mrs Ahluwalia far more than £20,000.
Mr Singh left most of his estate to his three sons under his will. His two daughters were to inherit just £20,000 each, while a third daughter was left nothing. Mrs Ahluwalia successfully challenged the will on the basis that the two witnesses to the will made in 1999 were not both there at the same time to see Mr Singh sign the document.
