Martyn Hann specialises in contentious and non-contentious intellectual property. His contentious work covers patents, trade marks, design rights and copyright disputes in all industries, but with particular emphasis on the oil and gas, life sciences, retail and software sectors.
Martyn has experience in the exploitation of IP and related rights, covering licensing including patents, product registration and the grant of “piggyback” rights in the life sciences sector and franchising, particularly in the retail sector.
Key Experience and Clients
- Successfully defending patent infringement proceedings against Offshore Hydrocarbon Mapping plc by Electro Magnetic Geo Services A/S.
- Successfully pursuing a registered design claim on behalf of Arrogant Cat against ASOS plc.
- Advising Harvey Nichols on the licensing of the overseas stores in Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Istanbul.
- Acting for United Phosphorous, the second largest generic agrochemical manufacturer on numerous agrochemical product acquisitions, including most recently the acquisition of ASULAM from Bayer CropScience.
- Advising Perrigo UK on its product supply arrangements with GlaxoSmithkline.
- Advising D1 Oils, a biofuels company, on the IP and commercial aspects of its joint venture with BP.
