Expertise
Nick acts for multi national, FTSE 100 and other corporate clients as well as high net worth individuals, in relation to a wide range of heavyweight contentious matters, usually with a fraud element. Nick regularly provides advice on worldwide injunctive actions, investigations into acts of fraud or dishonesty perpetrated against corporates and other bodies, disputes arising out of breaches of confidence and/or contract and multi million pound intellectual property cases. Much of his work has a multi-jurisdictional element.
Nick has a high level of experience of cases in the High Court, Court of Appeal and House of Lords. In addition, he has acted for clients involved in a variety of alternative dispute resolution forums such as mediation, arbitration and expert determination.
Key Experience and Clients
- Acted for a leading global sports and leisurewear distributor in relation to £30 million High Court claim arising out of an alleged breach of oral contract.
- Advised Microsoft in relation to multi million pound intellectual property claims and in relation to worldwide injunctive actions.
- Advised a leading US bank in relation to the theft of its confidential information.
- Acted for UK and Bermuda based property companies in a High Court action to recover £1/2 million in fees.
- Acted for the Defendant in a leading Court of Appeal case on the construction of clauses in a worldwide Freezing Order.
- Advised a multinational software company in relation to disputes arising out of its worldwide distributor audits.
- Acted for AXA and other leading insurers in relation to a £100 million film finance coverage dispute in the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords.
- Acted for a Foreign Currency exchange company in relation to a High Court action concerning the theft of confidential information.
